Genesis recently announced our new Gen35 strategy as we look to accelerate New Zealand's transition to a low-carbon future. We are undertaking a $1.1 billion investment programme in new renewable generation, to make Genesis 95% renewable by 2035 with around 8,300 GWh. In addition, we have set a target of reaching net zero as a company by 2040. With such a lofty mission and bold goals, we are on the lookout for the right talent to help us deliver.
**About the role**:
Have an impact in this newly created role that's central to our Gen35 Strategy. We're seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead and oversee the technical aspects of our energy projects within the Asset Delivery function from pre-construction through to post-construction and operational handover. You'll work closely with our Generation Development and Asset Management functions, ensuring seamless transition of projects between phases in their lifecycle. Other key responsibilities will include;
- Manage technical workstreams and engineering resourcing.
- Define technical requirements and support the preparation of project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Plan and manage the design process for projects.
- Lead the preparation of contract specifications and provide technical input and evaluation during procurement.
- Oversee quality assurance and technical compliance during manufacture and construction.
- Support commissioning, operational readiness, and project close-out activities.
**About you**:
- A proven track record of supporting complex projects and achieving positive technical and quality outcomes.
- Experience in renewable energy projects, grid-connections, commissioning new generating plant, and navigating Transpower’s requirements and processes will be advantageous.
- Proven engineering experience in within the energy or utilities sector
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent knowledge of engineering design, quality management, and procurement processes.
