The Whangarei team are currently looking for a new Project Engineer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be based in a beautiful part of the country in a challenging and rewarding position.

The Project Engineer will bring a solid understanding of the civil construction industry in New Zealand, ideally, they will have worked in road construction and maintenance.

As Project Engineer, you will work closely with the Project Manager and Area Manager - Northland to manage and deliver a range of maintenance and construction projects. You will monitor and control daily operations ensuring all aspects of engineering, quality, productivity, and safety targets are being met in full and on time.

Other responsibilities include:

- Assist with pricing, planning, reporting and constructing projects
- Monitor and update project budgets and programmes
- Manage both internal and external resources to meet project deadlines
- Support Project Managers with documentation including preparation of subcontractor and supplier agreements
- Develop strong and trusted relationships with key stakeholders

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Project Engineer with a suitable level of experience within the construction industry. Excellent attention to detail, ability to understand technical specifications, problem solving, and communication will serve you well in this role. We’d also value:

- Experience in urban and rural civil engineering work environments
- Diploma / Bachelors in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
- A proven track record delivering earthworks, drainage and pavement construction activities
- Ability to work collaboratively providing best for roading network solutions while demonstrating value for money
- Ability to develop and maintain a culture that supports HSQE management, encouraging and rewarding excellence
- Demonstrated leadership behaviours that empowers others
- Relationship management with clients and public stakeholders
