Following a recent change project to future-proof our Network we have a number of exciting new opportunities within our Northpower Network team. We are a leading electricity distribution network company committed to delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions to our customers. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Distribution Network Design Engineer to join our team.

At Northpower, people are the heart of our success. As a talented and capable Engineer with a design background in Distribution networks, you will role model success in several technical and people functions:
- Preparing and reviewing detailed designs for distribution projects, engaging with consultants to ensure designs meet industry standards, and providing technical expertise on distribution asset capability to stakeholders
- As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with a diverse range of internal and external partners, including network teams, service providers, contractors, and consultants. You'll provide technical and operational support services, responding promptly to asset-related issues, and ensuring the reliability and safety of our network
- Contribute to our risk management processes, develop asset contingency plans, and participate in the development of standards and standard designs
- As a champion for excellence and continuous improvement, you will be essential in achieving and exceeding operational, regulatory, and customer requirements. We value your leadership skills and encourage you to positively impact our team members by providing ongoing performance feedback

**Who we’re looking for**

To be considered for this role you will naturally be a people leader and possess strong interpersonal skills, as well as:
- Knowledge of construction, power transmission and distribution technology and the electricity industry in New Zealand or abroad
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a similar qualification, or extensive industry experience
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience, with a focus on distribution design
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical issues clearly to diverse audiences
- Strong knowledge and experience in managing contractual arrangements and working within the contracting environment
- A commitment to providing timely, reliable, and expert advice to internal and external customers
- Competency in auditing, risk management, and technical writing
- Demonstrable commitment to safety leadership and adherence to HSQE requirements
