Auckland City, New Zealand Auckland Council Full time

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Severe weather events in January and February 2023 have had a devastating and lasting impact on many communities and thousands of individuals across Tāmaki Makaurau. Flooding and land slips have damaged or destroyed homes and disrupted lives and communities.

Auckland Council has worked with central government to secure a funding package that would enable people in the region to move forward with certainty as quickly as possible.

The Recovery Office has an opportunity for a fixed term full time Property Acquisition Manager to join the team until August 2025.

Reporting to the Head of Homes & Recovery, this role is critical for supporting the management of our buy-out programme for the category 3 weather affected homes. You will be part of a team led by the senior programme manager. You will lead the work from start to finish, including managing our agents for the purchase of homes, and working with stakeholders for the ongoing management of the land.

You will also manage the budget including creating reports for our stakeholders.

The Recovery Office programme is unique. Your work will involve defining and solving challenges as the programme evolves. You will be working in a dynamic fast-paced environment and thrive in collaborative problem solving.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for an individual who is deeply committed to the recovery efforts for Tāmaki Makaurau. You are comfortable working autonomously, making decisions and seeking advice when necessary.

Ideally you will have practical and commercial experience in construction, property or housing and can provide the strong leadership required to navigate through the complex property acquisition landscape.

You may come from a consultancy background or have worked for organisations with significant investment in infrastructure.

We are specifically looking for:

- Track record of successfully developing and delivering complex work programmes
- Good knowledge of project management methodologies, best practices and processes
- Ability to maintain successful and enduring relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Strong problem solving and sound decision-making skills
