Use your specialist knowledge to design and lead development and delivery of the programme of work for environmental sustainability.Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role: Fire and Emergency is committed to Environmental Sustainability to reduce our impact on the environment, including our carbon emissions, procurement, supply chain and asset management, waste, pollution, and water use. This will link the work on emissions reduction, climate resilience and adaptation within the organisation to strategic and business planning, and reporting.In this role you will:

- Engage stakeholders to develop and embed a long-term plan for sustainability at Fire and Emergency.
- Ensure the plan is aligned to outcomes in the Climate Response Strategy and establish appropriate governance oversight of progress towards those outcomes.
- Lead the development of an annual Emissions Reduction Plan, the specific product that meets the Government's CNGP requirements.
- Lead the setting of targets to reduce Fire and Emergency's carbon emissions and reporting against these targets, to ensure compliance with the Government's CNGP.
- Manage ongoing reporting of progress against the plan and carbon emission reporting.

**Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - What you'll bring to the role**: To be successful in this position, you will have the ability to see the big picture and “connect the dots” across teams and managers within the directorate, and the wider organisation.To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will:

- Understanding of the requirements of the NZ Government Carbon Neutral Government Programme
- Specialist sustainability knowledge and experience advising Senior Leadership Teams.
- Ability to critically analyse and interpret complex information such as emissions reporting data, organisational trends and modelling.
- You'll be great at building collaborative working relationships with a wide range of people
- You'll have agility, initiative, great time management skills and bring energy to this role

The salary range for this role is $148,798 - $165,332 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.Ko wai mātou - Who are we?
