Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters and Flood Resilience department has an opportunity for a **Principal - Small Water Supplies** within the Regional Operations team.

As a Principal - Small Water Supplies you will lead multiple aspects of small water supply and wastewater operations as well as acting as a technical lead in relation to systems and treatment issues.

You will also provide strategic thinking to the business for relevant policy and operational guidance documents for the department. The expectation is that this role will build strong effective relationships with area operations teams.

**Day-to-day you can expect to work on**:

- Managing public health risk in provisions of safe drinking water as well as effective treatment and disposal of onsite wastewater in compliance with the Water Services Act and Resource Management Act
- Being the SME of the council’s small water supply and onsite wastewater systems for the design, development, and improvement of assets.
- Developing several key internal and external relationships including Water Services Regulator (Taumata Arowai), council’s Parks & Community Facilities, Regulatory teams, Watercare and contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Overseeing the operations and maintenance of small water supply and onsite wastewater systems to ensure the identified levels of service are met and that technical and environmental legislative requirements are adhered to.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

For this position you will need to have at least 15 years’ work experience in a combination of three waters infrastructure sector. You will also have a bachelor’s degree in civil, water or environmental engineering and a bonus would be holding a chartered or professional registration status.

As this is a Principal level role, it will go without saying that you have the maturity and confidence to work independently. You will also have a substantial amount of small water supply and wastewater treatment operations and maintenance experience under your belt.

Your ability to be flexible will also be taken into consideration as this role will require the successful applicant to undertake an ‘On Call’ duty on a rostered basis every 5-6 weeks.
