This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.
The remuneration range for this role is $109,980 to $155,266 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.
The opportunity
As Principal Engineer you will take a guiding role on network projects, supporting the Network Engineering team to deliver them and lending your technical expertise to complex issues. Acting as client project sponsor, you will ensure strategic outcomes are delivered. You will review work and provide technical guidance across the business and to the wider industry at a regional and national level.
About you
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- 15 or more years engineering experience at a senior level and be recognised as an expert in water engineering
- experience with water supply engineering design, bulk water supply, storage, pumping, reticulation, source water management and water treatment
- the ability to solve complex engineering problems
- strong technical knowledge in drinking water engineering
- good understanding of drinking water quality requirements, structural and non-structural solutions, water supply modelling process, consenting requirements and meeting climate change challenges
- the ability to be a team player who is confident collaborating, with experience mentoring and leading others
- strong analytical skills and the ability to manage data to inform and make meaningful decisions.
About the team
The Network Engineering team develops an understanding of the performance of the Three Waters network and what upgrades are needed to support growth, renewals or continued reliable service to customers. We do this through undertaking and initiating investigations and regional studies informed by our over-arching strategy. We also support work across the business that is driven by this strategy. We provide engineering advice to Service Planning to help inform investment advice to councils and to set long term plans.
