Job Description
**The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi**

We are seeking an Insights Analyst (Data Analyst) to join our central Planning and Information Office (PIO). You will be part of a team of Analysts who work with either a direct faculty or our student services department to draw out actionable insights via the University’s Data and Analytics platform to meet our information needs and help with decision making for our senior leaders.

This role could be a match for you if you have experience as a Data Analyst, Performance Analyst, Planning Analyst or Finance Analyst. You will use your experience as an analyst to advise our stakeholders about the information available through data and our Analytics platform and its associated reporting tool, across the breadth of information domains.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable consulting with stakeholders to understand their needs and goals before putting together a plan of action, diving into the data to provide guidance and then developing dashboards and presentations which can then be used to make important strategic decisions.

The type of data that you will be working with will be applicant, student performance, including research student, research project and revenue and staff performance information. This is not an exhaustive list but will give you a feel of for what you will be working with.

**Your key responsibilities will be to**:

- Deliver excellent customer service through reliable communications, speedy service and thoughtful consultation.
- Provide support, information and actionable insights to leadership teams.
- In conjunction with other technical teams, develop information sets, dashboards and analyses across information domains.
- Analyse operational and other processes to identify opportunities to improve data management, quality and reporting outcomes.
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with senior leaders, and specialist staff within the Planning Information office, as well as with other Faculty Insights Analysts to build consistency, knowledge and trust across the organisation.

**About the team | Mō tō mātou rōpū**

The Planning and Information Office (PIO) is the unit within the University that leads and coordinates strategic and operational planning for the University. This is achieved by providing a range of information, support and advice, including the provision of strategic, tactical and operational information; monitoring and assessing the institution’s performance; coordinating the planning process and developing; data science, data governance and maintaining the University’s repositories of business information.

**About you | He kōrero mōu**

To be considered for this role you must have experience of working with data. Ideally, as an Analyst, this would usually mean that you also have a relevant bachelor’s level qualification in an area such as statistics or information systems.

You will excel at combining your critical thinking and analytical capability with contextual knowledge of business processes and systems, in order to derive insights and communicate the story within the data. You will be a champion of continuous improvement and a team player, contributing to the evolution of the network of analysts and information specialists into a thriving and supportive community of practice.

- Excellence in working with stakeholders to understand business context and provide interpretation of reporting in the form of actionable insights
- Demonstrated experience utilising analytics and reporting methodologies to identify and communicate areas of concern or improvements opportunities to diverse stakeholders
