We now have an exciting opportunity to appoint a **Director of Faculty Finance** for the **Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.**

**About the team | Mō tō mātou rōpū**

This world-class faculty is one of the largest at the University of Auckland and has revenues and FTE that puts this role at the top end of financial leadership roles in New Zealand.

**The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences** (FMHS) is a large and diverse faculty with more than 5,000 students studying across six schools, including Schools of Nursing, Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, Population Health, Optometry & Vision Science and the School of Medicine. The University of Auckland is acknowledged both locally and internationally for its ground-breaking work in advancing modern medicine and the faculty is regarded as one of the top Medical & Health Sciences faculties in the world.

**The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi**

Reporting to and supporting the Faculty Dean with dotted line directly to the University’s CFO, this is an exciting and rare opportunity to lead, manage and develop the faculty’s finance function to support the objectives and strategic direction of the faculty.

This role will provide proactive insight and decision support at both strategic and operational levels, requiring highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills to partner with senior leaders.

Some key responsibilities include:

- ** Strategy, Planning and Decision-making** including developing strategic and annual plans, faculty business cases and leadership of the faculty’s financial strategy
- ** Staff Leadership** including staff development, mentoring and leadership of a culture that is inclusive, flexible and encourages excellence.
- ** Operational Activities and Reporting** including leadership of the faculty’s strategic and annual financial planning process, compliance and overall responsibility for the financial management of the faculty through effective KPI’s and reporting.
- ** Relationship Management** with a wide variety of stakeholders including Heads of Schools, Deans, Executives, other Directors of Faculty Finance, Service Divisions, central finance and other internal and external stakeholders.
- ** Transformation and Continuous Improvement **as directed by or in collaboration with the Dean and CFO, development and leadership of strategic transformation initiatives, business continuity plans, risk management and business and process improvement projects.
