Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) based at Police National Headquarters is seeking multiple Analysts to be part of the Targeting Team. The FIU is part of the Financial Crime Group which also includes the Money Laundering Team and Asset Recovery Units in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.
The Targeting Team comprises of intelligence and investigative staff and works to enhance investigations by providing expert advice and support to Police and other government agencies. Our work is generally based on financial reporting from the private sector under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009.
As an analyst you will consult a range of information sources, use analytical tools and techniques to understand complex policing problems, and develop compelling advice to inform prevention and enforcement. In time you will become an expert in money laundering and the financial component of any acquisitive crime. You will also start/continue your journey of learning and development as a skilled intelligence professional.

- Successful applicant must reside in Wellington, and be willing to travel.
- Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent or able to complete NZDIA modules early in employment.
**Security Clearance**:
To be eligible for this role, you must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Level national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:
- A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
- A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.
This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is “to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business”.
