**Client**:
Our client is a family-owned business situated near Palmerston North, growing, packing, processing and distributing fresh produce all over New Zealand.

**Overview**:
We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to assist a modern Prepack and Processing team. You will look after the routine maintenance of machines and have excellent interpersonal and time management skills.

You will provide high quality maintenance and repairs to equipment throughout the plant with strong emphasis on improving the operational effectiveness of the site.

**Key responsibilities of the role**:

- Orchestrating maintenance works in accordance with allocated budgets
- Diagnosing faults
- Scheduling and executing maintenance works - Outsourcing required work to relevant subcontractors
- Regular servicing - Machinery and plant is maintained to ensure optimum performance
- Replacing or repairing of machine parts
- Daily inspections of Plant and Machinery
- Ordering and maintaining parts inventory levels
- Attend and resolve unplanned maintenance tasks including breakdowns
- Liaising with Production and Processing team on a regular basis
- Training team on effective plant operation as and when required
- Maintain all site engineering documentation (Stock inventory and hazardous substances) and plant log (maintain or similar) ensuring accurate and up to date information is available at all times
- Ensure Health and Safety standards are implemented and demonstrate continued improvement to the site

**Requirements**:

- At least 3-5 years experience in Plant Maintenance or Process Engineering
- Prefer Trade Qualified: Mechanical/Maintenance/Fitter/Electrician
- Welding ability an advantage but not essential
- Broad knowledge of Engineering practices
- Strong Multitasking skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Must be able to work autonomously and in conjunction with others with excellent communication skills.
- Food safety understanding
- Strong root cause analysis for timely breakdown resolution
- Self starter with the ability to work on your own.

**Days and hours**:
You will be employed on a 45-hour salary required on site Monday to Friday starting at 7am, with an on-call feature during the weekends. You will be rostered to work some STAT holidays as and when required.

You will need some flexibility to accommodate Pack house and Process Room maintenance work loads.
