About us
Te Tari Pūreke - Firearms Safety Authority is New Zealand’s Firearms Regulator. Our Vision is to ensure the possession and use of firearms in Aotearoa is the safest in the world.
**To achieve this, Te Tari Pūreke delivers four core functions**: effectively implementing the firearms licensing systems; managing the Firearms Registry; educating people to enable compliance with their legislative responsibilities; and promoting the safe possession and lawful use of firearms.
We are committed to fostering a culture of safe and responsible firearms use, gun ownership and awareness by working collaboratively with the firearms community, our stakeholders, and fellow agencies.
About the role
The Permits officer role is responsible for a wide variety of firearms regulatory processes, including; entering and maintaining licencing information in the national database (and other systems), undertaking permitting, endorsement and compliance activities, and completing other tasks and activities that contribute to high quality and effective administration of the Arms Act and Regulations.
You will be part of a team of dedicated Permit Officers that deliver high quality service across a full spectrum of activities ensuring compliance with the Arms Act 1983, The Arms Regulations 1992 and internal Policy. You will already possess a skill set which enables you to multitask well, identify areas of risk, and prioritise competing work demands.
**Key Deliverables**:
Sound decision making ensuring compliance with Legislation and policy.
Ability to plan and prioritise your work.
Good communication - written and oral
Ability to collaborate well to achieve team goals.
Cultural awareness and sensitivity
Good computer (MS Office) skills and proven abilities with multiple digital platforms
Understanding of the importance of information security

A knowledge of firearms is desirable but not essential.
Office based (no remote working or WFH options)

Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will be $69,337.00.
