Senior Advisor

Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders. The positions sit within Te Aromātai Whakatutukitanga | System and Agency Performance Group which supports the Commission's vision and objectives for the Public Service by ensuring we have strong leadership and governance of the Public Service, and enabling agencies to deliver services that make a difference for New Zealand.
We are looking for a Senior Advisor to join our System and Agency Performance Group. The team operates as a centre of expertise for the Public Service on statutory Crown monitoring, governance, entity performance, and Crown board appointments. In this role, you will provide high quality advice and guidance to Crown entity chairs, boards, and monitoring departments right across the Public Service.
Crown entities are responsible for around 40 percent of government expenditure, employ a significant number of people, and deliver many critical services New Zealanders access everyday. We play a critical role in partnering with Crown entities, and boards, to support good governance that enables the effective delivery of services to improve the wellbeing of all New Zealanders.
In this role, you will have specific responsibility for leading the Commission's work across the Crown entity system. This includes helping to lead and drive the delivery of the Crown Entity Resource Centre (CERC), established by the Public Service Commissioner to provide greater leadership on Crown entity governance and performance across the Public Service.
The Crown Entity Resource Centre works at the system level to support Crown entity performance, appointments, governance and monitoring. It engages with Crown entities, monitoring departments and others involved in the Crown entity system. You will have a critical role working with Crown entity board chairs, monitoring departments, and system leads to strengthen Crown entity governance and performance across the Public Service.
You will directly lead engagement and provide advice to departments and Crown entities across the Public Service. This includes engaging with and providing guidance to boards, chairs, Commissioners of Crown agents and other statutory Crown entities.
You will also work with experienced leaders to shape the Public Service. You will also get exposure to a wide range of issues impacting the direction and performance of the Public Service and public service agencies. This position usually pays between $99,200 to $116,700 depending on skills and experience.
