**Job Description** About us**
At Vector, we’re redefining what’s possible in the energy sector - pioneering new technologies, forging global partnerships, and building a cleaner, more connected future for Aotearoa and beyond. Our commitment to innovation and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do, empowering our people to solve real-world challenges and deliver lasting impact for our customers and communities.
Within Vector, VTS (Vector Technology Solutions) develops intelligent software solutions for utilities. We’re a talented team of product, design and technology professionals with a shared passion for using energy data to drive smarter, more sustainable outcomes.
Our Diverge platform equips distribution utilities and smart metering operators to adapt and meet the demands and disruptions of the energy transition. It combines and delivers energy data across the Utility and from external sources in a powerful, utility-grade, utility-scale system supporting electrification, renewables integration and enhanced network visibility.
**The role**
In this newly created role at VTS, as our Product Practice Manager, you’ll lead a talented team of Product Owners and Business Analysts to deliver capabilities that truly make a difference for our customers.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of product delivery at Vector. Working closely with the wider product practise and technology teams, you’ll guide your team through every stage of the product lifecycle, from discovery and development to enhancement and support. You’ll champion cross-functional collaboration, role-model behaviours that build trust, and ensure your team is equipped to tackle the challenges of a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
**Key responsibilities include**
- Leading and line managing a team of Product Owners and Business Analysts, supporting their growth and career progression.
- Driving the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of product delivery processes and standards in partnership with Technology and Delivery teams.
- Embedding robust Quality Assurance practices in close collaboration with domain specialists from our Product and Technology teams
- Coordinating assignments, prioritisation, and planning of our work including delivering new capabilities, platform maintenance and professional services engagements.
- Coordinating big room planning events
- Championing consistency, cohesion and trust within the team and in our interactions with others.
**About you**
We’re looking for a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about building high-performing teams.
- Proven experience in product management serving external customers, including quality assurance.
- Demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and retaining talent, with line management of teams great than 5.
- Experience managing contract and fixed-term teams, including vendor/service provider engagements.
- Demonstrated successful change-management experience, especially in software delivery and cross-functional processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill - you bring clarity to complex ideas and engage audiences at every level.
- A track record of building and maintaining high-performing teams in scaling environments.
- The ability to enable others, bring people on the journey, and support the business to scale and grow.
- Familiarity with electrification, smart metering, and electricity distribution is desirable, but not essential.
- Hands-on experience with software development practices; cloud-native architecture, infrastructure-as-code, or CI/CD is highly desirable.
**What’s in it for you?**
We know that great energy starts with great people, and we’re committed to creating an environment where you can be, do and achieve your best:
- Enhance your wellbeing, protect your future and empower your personal and professional growth through our benefits package
- Supercharge your career through internal opportunities, our progression scheme, tailored development plans and investment in your learning and growth
- We value diverse perspectives, which drive innovation and creativity. We encourage everyone to bring their full selves to work, embracing ideas that challenge and inspire
- Build a legacy doing work that matters - we’re keeping the lights on across Auckland, and driving a sustainable energy future for New Zealand.
Vector values diversity in all its forms and welcomes people of all backgrounds, experiences, identities and abilities to be part of our team.
