With continued growth across our city, Upper Hutt City Compliance Services Team is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated team member to join us. We are health and safety and customer focused and require someone who is able to constructively engage with our diverse community regularly.

As the Compliance Services Officer (Parking) you will play an important role working within the Compliance Services team to ensure that parking services are delivered to a high standard and in accordance with statutory requirements. Primarily you will be responsible for enforcing the parking restrictions throughout our city and associated patrolling.

Our city is growing and the Compliance Services Team is experiencing increased work volumes. The Team are focussed on undertaking our work safely and effectively, while identifying improvements in how we function. The Compliance Services Officer (Parking) is a position that has an opportunity to shape and influence how we deliver services and conduct internal processes. This is a role that can deliver job satisfaction for a person who enjoys both engaging with the community but also working with a team to design and implement process improvements.

The primary role of the Compliance Services Officer - Parking is to enforce the Council’s parking restrictions and to investigate / resolve related vehicle complaints e.g. abandoned vehicles. This is a customer-facing role that requires an ability to work with people and an active engagement in health and safety pocesses.

**Key responsibilities in this role include**:
Day-to-day patrolling of city (on foot and in vehicles).

Investigation and resolution of vehicle complaints including assessments for towing of abandoned vehicles.

Operating with a health and safety-first approach, and complying with all health and safety requirements and ensuring all incidents are reported promptly.

Managing the lifecycle of complaints and enquiries through to resolution.

Drafting correspondence, collating information.

Ensuring information is accurate and free of errors.

Provide educational messages to community in relation to parking requirements.

**To be considered for this role we are ideally looking for**:
Experience operating as a compliance officer within local or central government.

Problem solving/solutions-focused mindset that aims to understand the problem, formulate options and deliver solutions.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with all people in our diverse community.

Friendly, patient and resilient.

Familiar and comfortable with operating in an agile work environment.

Comfortable with Microsoft skills including word processing and spreadsheets.

Comfortable working in a range of weather conditions.
