At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

**About our group and team**

Te Puna Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce leads the sector workforce employment relations, the relationship with Education Payroll Limited and we hold the responsibility for bargaining. We support the organisation so that the key role of the education sector workforce is integrated into their work programmes and services. Our group ensures the system has the right people in the right places at the right time for early learning, kōhanga reo, schools and kura.

The Claims Implementation team sits within Te Puna Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce and is a key connector between the education sector and the Ministry. Our role is to work with the sector and with key stakeholders to develop approaches to implementation across the workforce. Our team supports the sector to understand and implement changes to employment settings.

**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

We are looking for an education sector guru, someone who has either extensive experience working in the sector or who has strong relationships within the sector. We are looking for someone who can clearly articulate the Ministry's views, mahi and values while carefully considering the interests and perspectives of the sector and other stakeholders.

**Mōhou ake | About you**

As a Lead Advisor, you'll be responsible for providing advice and support to the wider Education Workforce group. Programmes of work that you'd be involved in include the implementation of pay equity claims, collective bargaining outcomes and other people-related initiatives which impact the sector. As Lead Advisor, you will have a voice for, and hold a key relationship with the sector itself.

This is a varied and dynamic role, but some of the key things that might help you succeed are:

- Knowledge of, and experience in the education sector
- Experience working with lots of different internal and external stakeholders in a public sector and/or unionised environment
- Skills in a relevant work area which could include HR, ER, project management, policy analysis, or payroll management
- Knowledge of public sector labour market issues and machinery of government
- Experience in researching, developing and implementing strategies
- Natural curiosity and ability to connect the dots between different complex situations
