**About this role | Mo tenei turanga**
The role is a permanent part time role (0.5 FTE) based in the Gisborne Office servicing the Tairawhiti Region.
The Learning Support Advisor provides effective, efficient and equitable learning support for students who cannot readily access the curriculum in accordance with the goals, objectives and policies of the Ministry of Education.
- Technical / professional knowledge and skills -having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise
- Building Strategic Working Relationships - developing and using collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.

**About you | Mohou ake**
To be successful in the role, you will have proven experience and outcomes in Learning Support. Additional qualifications in Learning Support would be an advantage.
You will also:
- Have demonstrable knowledge, experience, and skills in supporting children and young people with severe and challenging behaviours.
- Have an ability and willingness to work in collaborative partnership with other professionals, agencies, families and the sector.
- Bring excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to sustain productive professional relationships.
- Offer a genuine commitment to evidence-based interventions, which demonstrate inclusive education practice and contribute to raising student achievement.
- Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity and a commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
**About our group and team | Matau ropu ake**
Learning Support is a critical part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education. Across our takiwa, we provide leadership and guidance to deliver education service for school/kura, early learning services, whanau and akonga, and our local communities.
We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Maori, Pacific peoples, akonga with learning support needs, and akonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Our regional Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kohanga, school/ kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local and regional level.
