We are currently looking for a Maori Liaison Advisor to join our growing Maori Responsiveness team and help shape the future of our region and Council as an enduring Treaty partner. **A bit about you**:
- A person who is adept and confident in a te ao Māori and tikanga setting
- A change agent for the improvement of bi-cultural and multi-cultural race relations
- A champion for the collective aspiration of Council and a good team player
- Humility and respect for diversity of background and opinion
- Flexible, calm and solution focused when faced with challenges
- Someone who can manage their time and competing priorities
- A good sense of humour is a must as sometimes we need to lighten the mood
- The ability to afford manaakitanga to situation is a must have
**Your day will look like**:
- Engaging and working with hapū/iwi, Māori and communities across the region
- Inspiring and assisting your colleagues with the potential of Treaty partnership
- Fostering and maintaining meaningful relationships between hapū/iwi and Council
- Leading and supporting project work that advances Council’s Treaty aspirations
- Leading and supporting kaupapa that are directed by kawa and tikanga
- Ensuring the cultural safety of all relationships is considered and provided for
- Leading and supporting kaupapa that promote exposure to te ao Māori
- Responding to unanticipated requests from internal and external relationships
