As an organisation, we take cyber security very seriously and are constantly striving to ensure we are ahead of the game. With that comes a new opportunity of IT Security Specialist.

Working in a close-knit team, the Security Specialist will be primarily responsible for providing the first line of detection and response of security alerts, detections, and events.

With a wide variety of systems and services offered by the Council, this role offers variety and new challenges as we look to grow Council's cyber maturity. From security awareness, identity, data loss prevention, monitoring and through to response.

The Security Specialist will be required to build relationships and work collaboratively with other teams across the organisation and in partnership with external vendors to ensure security standards are adhered to and maintained.

To be successful in this role you'll have:

- A passion for security with a thirst to grow your knowledge and experience in the Microsoft security stack.
- A basic knowledge of Security principles, techniques, and technologies.
- A desire to keep pace with emerging technologies and a genuine thirst to upskill on new technologies and the latest industry thinking.

Nice to have:

- Proven experience, with 5 years' experience in an IT Security role as well as 7 years of general IT experience.
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.

- Hours of work_ - Full time, permanent
- Salary_ - $80,900 to $119,000 per Annum
- Location_ - This position is primarily based at Christchurch City Council Civic Offices

Whilst staff working at the Christchurch City Council are not currently required to be vaccinated, applicants need to be aware that should the COVID-19 environment change, roles across the organisation will be assessed, and the requirement to be vaccinated may be reviewed.
