Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Trimble Full time NZ$80,000 - NZ$120,000 per year

Your Title: Senior Scrum Master and QA Specialist (fixed-term)

Job Location: Christchurch, New Zealand

Our Department: Business Systems

Period: 12-month fixed-term

Are you looking for a fixed-term role in a leading tech company where you can make a huge difference by helping the team deliver a global, high-visibility software project?

What You Will Do

As an experienced Scrum Master in our Business Systems team, for this 12-month fixed-term position, you will primarily serve as the dedicated Scrum Master for one of our core development teams, helping them to improve predictability and deliver value more effectively. Additionally, you will contribute as a QA Specialist within the scrum team, ensuring quality and guiding testing efforts. While the focus is on Scrum Master/QA responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to apply your coaching skills to support the team's Agile journey.

This is a unique opportunity to directly influence our transition to new ways of working. You'll play a vital role in embedding our corporate implementation of Scrum and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles across our teams, helping us to collaborate better, and deliver a unified technology stack. While this is a 12-month fixed-term role, we see great potential for the right person to grow with us. There is an opportunity for extension and for this role to evolve into a full-time position, leveraging your expertise across a wider range of Agile teams within our New Zealand offices.

Your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Scrum Master: Serve as a dedicated Scrum Master for one of our business systems teams. You'll facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, remove impediments, and enable the team to focus
  • QA Specialist: Guide and support the team's testing activities in collaboration with program-level QA, ensuring quality delivery and adherence to testing best practices
  • Promote Maturity: Help our teams mature in their Agile and QA practices, improving their predictability, efficiency, quality, and cross-team collaboration
  • Foster a Positive Culture: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, psychological safety, and accountability within and across the teams
  • Drive Change: Work closely with leaders throughout the program to help them understand and embrace Agile methodologies, ensuring a smooth and successful transition.

This is a chance to have a significant impact on our organisation's future. You'll be joining a team that is committed to improvement and growth, and you'll have the autonomy to help shape our journey. We offer a supportive and collaborative environment where your expertise will be highly valued.

If you are a seasoned Scrum Master with a passion for quality and a desire to help teams reach their full potential, we want to hear from you.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Scrum Master (3+ years). QA experience, developing overall testing strategies and policies. Experience as an Agile Coach or a demonstrated history of coaching and mentoring other teams is preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) is required. Additional certifications in SAFe, such as SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or SAFe Agilist (SA), are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of Scrum principles, practices, and theory. A strong working knowledge of SAFe is critical. Familiarity with testing methodologies and tools.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, facilitation, and servant-leadership skills. You should be a natural problem-solver with a knack for building trust and rapport.
  • Mindset: A true servant-leader with a passion for helping teams and individuals succeed. You are patient, empathetic, and resilient in the face of change.
