**About the Role**

You will be based in the Hamilton community setting, playing a key role supporting service users/ tāngata whaiora with recovery / rehabilitation opportunities to reach and maintain their wellbeing.

You will need to build relationships with other health agencies for health promotion and to foster community engagement. A typical day will see you out visiting tāngata whaiora in our community clinic, in their homes and in community settings.

Occupational therapists are involved in a wide range of activities, which include but are not limited to, completing functional assessments, occupational interests and pre-vocational/vocational opportunities. Participating in recovery / rehabilitation opportunities in groups and individually with tangata whaiora / service users.

This position will allow the successful therapist to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, psychiatrists, registered nurses, social work and support workers.

**About the Team**

The Community Forensic Mental Health Service provides a community based service for tangata whaiora / service users who are reintegrating into their local community from an inpatient setting.

**About you**
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- A current annual practicing certificate and current full drivers licence.
- A positive and flexible attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Experience of working in collaboration as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous mental health inpatient and/or community experience as a clinician is essential.
