We currently have multiple vacancies for a Ministerial Advisor, across a range of Minister's offices.

Ministerial Services is looking for a multiple Ministerial Advisors to provide support services to members of the Executive for short-term, or long-term cover assignments. These roles will provide both cover for staff in offices while they are on leave as well as surge support in times of high need. These are 'Events-based' roles for the duration of the 53rd Parliament.
Being deeply involved in the assigned Minister's delegated areas of responsibility, you will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the workings of the Executive Government of today. This is a unique opportunity to share, contribute and strengthen your political knowledge at the heart of Government decision making.
You will be relied upon to have an excellent understanding of existing government and public service protocols and processes which leads to effective decision making. As someone who is able to think on your feet, solving a multitude of issues at any given point you will be able to use your knowledge and experience to help drive the Government's plan forward. Your communication skills and ability to quickly build effective working relationships within the Minister's team, peers and key stakeholders will result in you being sought out as a credible and reliable expert.
On any given day, you could be involved in providing advice to a Minister, reviewing and advising on Government policy, Official Information Act requests, Oral and Written Questions from the Opposition, contributing ideas for the programme of the House of Representatives, meeting with advocacy groups, attending joint Ministers' meetings, discussing portfolio related issues with a Minister's officials or assisting a Minister's staff to progress Government legislation.
**The right applicants will have a mixture of the following**:
- Effective planning and co-ordination skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to competing and changing priorities; and
- An excellent understanding of existing government, parliamentary and public service protocols and processes
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to relate to and gain the confidence of the Minister and diverse stakeholders
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
- The ability to effectively interpret a wide range of information and resolve complex issues under pressure. Ministerial and Secretariat Services is a business unit responsible for providing a range of services to the executive arm of government (VIP Transport, managing official visits to New Zealand), as well as support and advisory functions to bodies such as the Gambling Commission.
