**THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Working within the multi-brand, multi-platform NZME Editorial production team, you’ll be assisting with the design, editing and output of print and associated digital content; including selection & processing of stories and visuals, quality control, audience focus and liaison across content teams and all functions of newspaper and digital production. You’ll be an integral part of the editorial process and need to be in possession of a brilliant sense of humour, competent in print and digital environments and have a passion for news and information. Specific experience and skills in print layouts is essential.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Layout & Design**:

- Lay out pages quickly and effectively, with knowledge of core design principles, use of images & graphics and with creative flair.

**Copy Editing**:

- Edit stories quickly and accurately, enhancing clarity with sound news judgement, targeting key audiences on each platform.
- Write compelling, active and appropriate headlines, captions, intros and blurbs/synopses recognising the tone and flavour appropriate to the material and platform.

**Technical**:

- Competently operate all editorial and production design systems, equipment, technology and software to required levels.
- Master all necessary equipment and production systems adapting to new media techniques.

**Communication, interpersonal skills and attitude**:

- Be organised and efficient. Liaise effectively with content teams and production staff and all deadlines and production schedules.

**ABOUT YOU**:

- 5+ years’ media industry experience in a similar production journalist or subeditor role.
- Comfortable with the daily demands of a busy newsroom across print, digital and broadcast platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management and communication skills.
- Be innovative, skilled at thinking laterally and creatively, and be able to handle the pressure that comes with managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
