About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Risk & Compliance Manager to join our Auckland, New Zealand office.
This role is integral to the firm's operations, offering a unique opportunity to take ownership of critical risk and compliance functions. This position will suit someone with the ability to drive outcomes and act with a strong sense of responsibility.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Leading the firm’s AML/CFT programme, including managing client due diligence, suspicious activity reporting, and engagement with regulatory bodies
- Managing the end-to-end conflicts of interest and new matter intake processes, collaborating with legal teams to identify and resolve potential issues
- Developing and maintaining the enterprise risk register, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (AML/CFT Act) and other key legislations
- Overseeing the firm’s compliance framework, preparing reports for senior leadership, and acting as the primary contact for auditors and regulators
- Promoting a firm-wide culture of compliance by developing and delivering training on AML, conflicts, and other key risk protocols
About you
We are looking for:
- Comprehensive knowledge of AML/CFT Act
- Extensive experience managing conflicts of interest in a legal or professional services context
- Proactive and driven professional with a practical approach to problem-solving and strong ownership mindset
- Ability to balance strategic thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to understand team dynamics and engage effectively with key stakeholders across the firm
- Background in professional services is highly desirable
