We currently have an opportunity for a Facilities Technician - Plumber to join our Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice team and play a key role in our high-performance team. Reporting to the Team Leader, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services. **Te**Kōwhiringa | The Opportunity** Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice. This involves the proactive management and delivery to the national portfolio of facilities including 15 prisons, 100 courts and 157 community correctional sites. This contract underpins the provision of availability of facilities to support core Government services. We are currently seeking a Certified Plumber to join our high performing team in building maintenance at Mt Eden Corrections Facility. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to expand their knowledge in the Facilities sector. There are a lot of opportunities to grow within the team, and you will be exposed to different responsibilities that will further enhance your skills in Plumbing. Prisons are sometimes challenging work environments, so you must be confident and able to conduct yourself professionally at all times. You will also understand the 24/7 nature of a prison site and be prepared to sometimes manage jobs and situations after hours. While undertaking general maintenance and repairs of the facilities your duties will also include; - Dealing with unexpected events and providing direction to work for teams - Looking for opportunities for continuous improvement and providing solutions - The undertaking of scheduled maintenance, first response, and reactive activities in order to mitigate disruption to the customer’s activities - A hands-on role in completing work safely and meeting our client and the needs of the contract We are looking for a team player who is willing to go the extra mile for our customer. You will be focused on quality delivery, have an eye for detail and be able to coordinate other trades as required to get a job fully completed.
