Thank you

professionals working in our Forensic Intellectual Disability Inpatient Service
located in Christchurch, New Zealand. With an array of mountains, lakes,
beaches and wilderness nearby, Christchurch is a great base for exploring the

and shopping in the city.

service enables our staff to make a real difference in the lives of people
across the South Island. The work is fast paced, varied and valued - a

The
Whaikaha Unit is a 4-bed in-patient clinical unit within Te Whatu Ora that is
part of Specialist Mental Health Services at Hillmorton Hospital. It provides
specific clinical assessment and treatment for our consumers. Our service
provides specialised regional services for consumers with an intellectual
Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act (IDCC& R Act
2003) will have forensic considerations in their support plans. The aim is
for the staff team to be trained, skilled and knowledgeable in working in a
Positive Behaviour Support framework. This is an evidence-based
framework giving patients the best chance at a good quality of life. This
emphasis promotes holistic working and for the team this can mean a varied and
rewarding role.
Your days

**will be filled with**:

- Undertaking behavioural assessments utilising

interview, observation and standardised recording strategies to collect a
comprehensive range of data to implement short term targets and long range
goals.
- Development of individually tailored intervention plans
that are collaboratively devised by the nursing staffKo wai koe | About You

In our service, you will play a number of important functions. As a psychologist, your professional expertise will be put to use to guide thorough risk assessments, diagnoses, and critically deliver individual and group therapy to an intricate but fascinating group of adult patients.
Your professionalism and dedication to providing high-quality patient care will ensure your success in this role, and your communication and time management skills will enable you to function well as a member of the larger multidisciplinary team.
You must be a clinical psychologist who is licensed in New Zealand. For positions in either field, recent relevant experience in a mental health context is crucial, and expertise in intellectual disability is essential for positions in that field.
