**Job Title: Soil and Plant Research Technician (1 year fixed-term)**

The purpose of this role is to provide technical support for scientists leading lab and field-based research to measure and mitigate farm greenhouse gas emissions and investigate ways to maintain and increase carbon stocks in indigenous and managed ecosystems in response to management practices and climate.

This position is full time for a fixed term of one year starting in February 2025, based at our Lincoln site and reports to Capability Leader, Land Use and Ecosystems.

**Ō pūmanawa | About you**

You will possess a relevant post-graduate qualification, trade certificate or technical qualifications in soil/plant or agricultural sciences or engineering. You will have some experience in laboratory and field measurements of carbon and nutrients in plants and soils, conducting fieldwork, use of instrumentation for measuring plant, root and soil properties, data analysis and interpretation of results. Understanding of New Zealand's farming systems and methods to measure greenhouse gas emissions and plant and soil carbon and nutrient cycling are required. Ideally you will have excellent communication skills, be well-organised. A full driving license is essential and some experience in operating field equipment will be an advantage.
