The Nuts and Bolts
About the Role
The Senior Solution Architect is primarily responsible for the Designs for the future and road mapping for Datacom Cloud with a relentless focus on continuous improvement of cloud operations and associated delivery leveraging agile methodologies. The role will deliver technical designs, assist with RFP’s and work across a broad range of technologies. They maintain knowledge of the technologies deployed as well as up to date professional certifications to ensure the delivery of an exceptional service.
Due to security clearances required for this role, you must be a New Zealand Citizen and be based in New Zealand.
What you’ll bring
- Experience working in a multi-tenanted Cloud environment
- High-level knowledge and design experience with the various technologies underpinning the Datacom Private Cloud
- Practical experience working with Virtualised environments running on VMware, Hyper-V or other hypervisors - VMWare experience is a must have
- Exceptional hands-on experience in the delivery of sizeable infrastructure, cloud, IT outsourcing, storage, backup, network and/ or cloud adoption/ migration projects
- Design and hands on experience in networking. Cisco switching and routing. SDN, ACI and VMware NSX-T
- Experience in additional key VMware technologies, including vCloud-Director, VCF
- Practical experience and excellent understanding of working with Enterprise Storage platforms (Dell-EMC preferred), fibre channel switching infrastructure (Cisco preferred) and associated Management platforms
- Practical experience working with Enterprise Backup Management Platforms such as NetBackup or Veeam
- Experience with automation - CI/CD pipelines, coding and scripting languages, practices and toolsets
**Responsibilities**:
- The support of the various technologies that are deployed to deliver the Datacom Cloud. These technologies cover compute, storage, data protection, networking and automation
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Datacom to produce a single cloud vision and value proposition
- Collaborate and work closely with Datacom Cloud Engineering and Product teams
- Undertaking Project Delivery encompassing high level solution architecture, detailed design and quality assurance
- Work with Datacom Cloud customers to design solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Identify and drive to implementation, opportunities to automate processes and drive down cost.
- Provide technical leadership in all areas of Infrastructure and Cloud to increase the effectiveness of the entire team
- Collaborate and build strong relationships with all areas of the business, particularly other Architects and acting as advocates for the business.
- Support architectural governance forums, providing guidance to other Architects on ways to optimise designs and align with standards and guidelines
- Provide escalated support and thought leadership to members of other teams, Championing the adoption of best practice throughout the Architecture practice. Act as a mentor to more junior architects, helping to increase the effectiveness of the team
- Work closely with sales and pre-sales, provide input to and write responses to tenders and customer RFPs. Accompany sales staff on customers meetings and providing support to the sales process
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement to build a culture of service excellence and demonstrates new ways of working
- Support and assist with related organisational changes and activities that are required as an outcome of business improvement activities
- Display a high level of operational discipline, ensuring Datacom and client processes, policies and procedures are followed and adhered to
