**He angitutanga: The opportunity**

Join a proactive team tackling a wide variety of compliance issues across the Auckland region. Working closely with your team for guidance and support, you will spend considerable time on the frontline around the region, protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development in a fast-growing city.

This role has a focus on earthworks. You will monitor activities earthworks and construction activities to prevent impacts of soil erosion and sedimentation, that can pollute streams, lakes, and harbours, and pose risks to freshwater and marine vegetation and animals.

Your time will predominantly be spent on-site inspecting and assessing for compliance against statutory requirements, with a focus on the effects to the environment and the community. You will be responsible for undertaking enforcement action, providing advice and education and assisting customers, consent holders, and industry to improve performance and compliance overall.

This full-time permanent role works 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

Your CV will demonstrate previous experience in planning or environmental compliance, or you may possess a technical qualification in science, environmental or resource management. Sound knowledge of the Resource Management Act and related legislation would be ideal. Earthworks and streamworks is the specialist focus of these roles, as such experience with and knowledge about Guidance Document 05 will be key.

Excellent investigation and problem-solving abilities coupled with sound communication, interpersonal, leadership and relationship building skills will be required. Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills will also be important in ensuring quality environmental outcomes are achieved for Auckland.
