Waimakariri District is one of the fastest growing Districts in New Zealand and the third largest, by population, in the South Island. This brings with it abundant challenges across a diverse range of areas.

The Council is seeking a Project Engineer to work within the Utilities Projects Team as part of the Project Delivery Unit, based in Rangiora, North Canterbury. The Project Delivery Unit provides asset management and engineering planning, design, delivery and development consultancy services to the Utilities and Roading Department, Green Space Team, and the wider Council.

In this key position you will take responsibility for:

- Providing technical expertise and support in the ongoing delivery of the Council 3 Waters Capital Works Program
- Managing Council processes, to ensure projects are carried out in a timely, technically competent and efficient manner
- Working closely with Council staff, consultants and contractors to deliver outstanding results
- Ensuring that the planning, design and construction of facilities is carried out in such a way that the environment is protected and enhanced
- Be a qualified Civil or Natural Resources Engineer, or hold an alternative relevant tertiary qualification with technical expertise in Engineering
- Have experience in a similar position
- Have strong technical, organisation and oral communication skills
- Be familiar with NZS:3910 conditions of contract for building and civil engineering construction
- Preferably have experience with 3-Waters infrastructure design and construction
