**Job Description**:

- Oversee and direct all QHSE operations and processes throughout New Zealand in a manner that supports the strategic intent of the business and its key stakeholders
- Providing assurance that direction setting, delivery and reporting of QHSE results is undertaken in a consistent manner
- Ensure compliance with legal and other obligations and certification requirements
- Ensure adherence to Group policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain effective, professional, and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide strategic leadership contributing as a key member of the SGS Leadership Team to the achievement of the QHSE Business Goals.
- Provide leadership to the QHSE teams
- Ensure the Business Lines are self-reliant and focus on value adding QHSE improvement initiatives

- Work with the business lines to train, advise, audit, and monitor all activities so they are carried out regarding and in recognition of SGS’s QHSE policies and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 requirements, the relevant safety and operational requirements, and personal safety, across all Businesses
- Report issues of consequence to the Managing Director NZ and the appropriate Business Manager(s).
- Develop & coordinate strategies to ensure the QHSE of all workers, and to raise issues where required
- Ensuring individual client contractor accreditations are current
- Implement and sustain ISO certifications and QHSE prequals on behalf of SGS New Zealand.
- Maintain contractor management system on behalf of SGS New Zealand and ensure contractor management procedures are implemented
- Assist in the future development of the QHSE programme and culture within the businesses as part of our OI Vision.
- Development and drafting of local policies, procedures, guidelines, and training initiatives
- On the specific request of business managers, maintain a close working relationship with key clients on QHSE related matters to ensure policies are appropriate and procedures followed in line with service level agreements may be adopted on behalf of the Business Managers
- Assist with, advise on, audit, and monitor that QHSE inductions are carried out, documented, and are relevant to the workplace
- Ensure that all QHSE information, materials and resources are disseminated throughout the workforce as required
- Assist and support teams to investigate all QHSE events; ensure and monitor the management of corrective actions, and with advisory champion QHSE across all business lines on behalf of business managers
- Monitor, injuries, illnesses, near misses and incidents
- Monitor all SGS processes to ensure no impact to the environmental
- Coordinate and manage ACC rehabilitation return to work, work related and non-work-related programmes. Providing guidance, advise and referral to EAP where required
- Communicate to HR where consequence management for OI failures are recommended
- Develop and ensure implementation of yearly audit schedule. Audit operations against legal and other compliance (in relation to relevant QHSE legislation and requirements)
- Plan, record, conduct (where required), collate and follow-up audits, training, management reviews and customer feedback, particularly in relation to QHSE requirements.
- Collation and analysis of key performance indicators related to responsible areas and periodic reports to appropriate key personnel
- Integrated Management System development and continual quality improvement
- Advice and assistance with tender completion with respect to QHSE, and development of standardized accompanying document
- Ensure QHSE compliance during mergers and acquisition process
- Act as Fire Warden, First Aider for Head Office

**Compliance & Accreditation**:

- Implement and Maintain ISO 9001, 45001,14001 certifications including annual self-assessment to standard, maintenance of legal register, and communications with certification bodies
- Ensure Customer third part qualifications are maintained (i.e. PREQUAL, Sitewise, Toktika QHSE etc).
