**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Prevention team as a **Principal Advisor, **reporting into the Chief Advisor in the Office of the Director. This role is critical in enabling the delivery of the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).

The primary purpose of the Principal Advisor is to play a leading role in the provision of specialist analysis and advice to both external and internal teams.

The role supports the NPHS Prevention Directorate and the wider organisation, to contribute to the agenda setting activities of Health NZ and other agencies, particularly those that support Māori and Pacific communities.

In addition, the Principal Advisor provides leadership, oversight, and direction on key pieces of work to ensure the delivery of quality advice across cancer screening and immunisation programmes.

You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of swiftly assembling and synthesizing diverse information, knowledge, and analysis. You will be entrusted with handing complex, sensitive information, showcasing your unwavering drive to deliver results and take ownership of critical tasks. - A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience (e.g., public health, epidemiology, informatics)
- Leadership experience, including designing and managing a portfolio of work, and resources
- Extensive specialised work experience typically supported with professional qualifications 10 - 15 years
- A preference for experience in working across multi-disciplinary teams
