Downer is an industry leader in water. We provide water services to a quarter of New Zealanders. We support our customers across the full asset lifecycle from the conceptual development of a project through design, construction, commissioning and whole-of-life support and optimisation.

Our New Plymouth Depot is proud to work with the community and the councils to renew, replace and upgrade the region's three waters assets. Our construction team undertakes capital works and supports the delivery of the City Council Water Operations and Maintenance contracts.

**The Role**:
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a high-performing team carrying out new build, renewal and maintenance work across water, wastewater and stormwater projects. You will be responsible for the daily running of a small crew or crews, ensuring that the required safety and quality outcomes are met. As a leader within the team, you will be able to transition from planning activities in the office to hands-on delivery in the field.

**About You**:
Essential to have the following:

- Driver’s license Class 1 Full, with the ability to drive a manual gearbox
- Three Waters experience
- Experience in drain laying tasks and activities
- Supervision of drainage projects
- Certified Drain Layer qualification
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work safely and be responsible for the safe operation of sites
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental protection principles
- Excellent communication skills, including a willingness to participate in business improvement and training
- Team leadership and motivation skills to lead a small team
- Have a strong customer and commercial awareness on-site

Additional items that would be advantageous:

- Driver’s License Class 2 and W, T, R endorsements are advantageous.
