Scots College prides itself on high quality teaching and building all-round character, but it takes a whole village to deliver an exceptional educational experience. We also have a large team of operational and administration staff who work behind the scenes and are an integral part of the team. This includes IT, marketing, finance, a health centre, and property and catering staff.

**Health and Safety Advisor**:
We are seeking to appoint a Health and Safety Advisor to join our staff. This is a full time, permanent appointment, commencing as soon as possible.

It is important that the successful applicant becomes part of our staff, with the time and willingness to engage with people and help them work pro-actively and effectively with health and safety requirements in the most efficient way.

It is a fully co-education, IB World School in the eastern suburbs of Wellington, New Zealand, and comprises three schools in one: Junior (Years 1-6), Middle (Years 7-10), and Senior (Years 11-13). The successful applicant will be responsible for continuing the development and management of health and safety systems and requirements, to ensure good compliance with legislation, and most of all, understand what it takes to keep people safe. As a school, we have a diverse range of activities going on (both on and off site) as well as a wide range of age groups participating in these activities. Some of the responsibilities of the role include:

- Developing, reviewing, and monitoring the effectiveness of policies, procedures, apps, etc.
- Continuing the development of paperwork, registers, apps, etc., which supports hazard identification and management, risk assessments, and accident/incident reporting, etc.
- Assisting with reporting requirements
- Lead member of the Health and Safety Committee
- Monitor and assist with College-wide RAMs forms and internal operating procedures (for College trips and events) to ensure the appropriate level of attention is given to risk management
- Being a visible presence around the College and providing advice and guidance as required
- Aspects of property compliance work (building WOFs, fire compliances, inspections, testing, etc.) and contractor management

As well as having prior experience in a similar role, the successful applicant will ideally be:

- the holder of an Occupational Health and Safety Bachelor of Health Science Degree (Level 7), or comparable qualification
- committed to promoting health and safety in the workplace
- able to demonstrate an adaptable approach to their work
- a good, practical communicator with strong interpersonal skills that encourage cooperation and good practice
- able to work on their own and in an organised manner
- able to foster positive, collaborative working relationships and engage others in initiatives and practices that support a safe working environment
- knowledgeable of relevant legislation
- computer literate, able to produce good quality documentation to support risk assessments, reporting, etc.
- detail conscious, process orientated, and able to demonstrate problem solving skills
