The Intelligence, Surveillance and Knowledge (ISK) group leads, co-designs, and develops intelligence, surveillance, and knowledge to inform Public Health strategy and policy, regulation, and monitoring of the health system actions to improve Population and Public Health outcomes and equity.

Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
Your role will involve providing strong leadership to a team of technical experts, analysts, and advisors to deliver on the core objectives of the Public Health Surveillance Strategy and Standards team. Your focus will be on driving the development, planning, and implementation of the Surveillance Strategy and Standards work programme while ensuring alignment with similar programmes of work across the Ministry.
You'll be responsible for building the capability and capacity of your team to deliver upcoming work in the future. This will require your people leadership experience and ability to develop staff, ensuring that team members are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
Working closely with stakeholders across the Ministry and wider ISK group, you will leverage your expertise and knowledge to provide strategic guidance and direction for the team. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the Surveillance Strategy and Standards programme is effectively managed, meets all relevant compliance standards, and delivers high-quality outputs.
Overall, this is a critical leadership role that requires a strong track record of success in managing technical teams, developing and implementing programmes of work, and delivering impactful results. As the Manager of Surveillance Strategy & Standards, you will play a key role in shaping the future of public health surveillance in New Zealand.
