This is a new role in a newly established team, join us and help shape the direction of model risk at Kiwibank. You’ll play a key role in building internal capability and supporting the uplift of model risk management practices across the bank.

You’ll lead independent validation of a broad range of models, from risk models to customer and/or financial valuation models, to ensure they’re conceptually sound, accurate, and aligned with our internal standards and regulatory requirements. You’ll also support the Model Risk Lead and contribute to enterprise-wide model risk activities, with a big-picture view of how model risk is managed across the bank.

You’ll collaborate with model owners, provide risk insights, and help shape the frameworks that guide how model risk is managed across the bank. Alongside the Model Risk Lead, you’ll support governance activities, contribute to committee reporting, and mentor junior team members, all while helping lift our model risk capability across Kiwibank.

At Kiwibank, we will help you build on your strengths and learn new skills, but in the meantime, we would love to hear from you if you have some of the following:

- Previous experience in a similar role with a background in banking or consulting, ideally with exposure to model risk or model validation.
- A relevant quantitative degree such as Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics or similar.
- Skilled in programming languages like Python, R, SQL or SAS.
- A strong understanding of risk, financial and customer models.
- A good grasp of prudential and regulatory requirements.
- A collaborative mindset and comfort working across teams.
- Confidence in working with large datasets and presenting complex data in a clear, meaningful way to a variety of audiences.
- Proven ability to write high-quality reports and papers for senior stakeholders.
