**About us**
- Fletcher Building is one of New Zealand’s largest listed companies, operating business across the whole of building and construction industry. We extract resources which form the foundations of our society. We make building products like GIB® and Pink® Batts® that make homes safe and warm. We build homes, roads and other infrastructure that creates communities, plus, we also run retail businesses, PlaceMakers and Mico. Our purpose is improving the world around us through smart thinking, delivered simply. This ethos driving us to improve the sustainability of our industry and continually innovate to do things better.
The Group Corporate Affairs Team is responsible for telling the stories of Fletcher Building to build its reputation as one of New Zealand’s most well-known companies.
**About the role**
- We are looking for super-duper capable, keen as a bean, up-and-coming comms Rockstar to join our Corporate Affairs team as our Communications Co-ordinator. Working for one of New Zealand’s largest listed companies, with 30 plus different businesses, 14,500 + people and 1000’s of customers and even more investors and shareholders this communications role is not one for the faint of heart but is an opportunity that is rarely available.
The Communications Co-ordinator is a busy, entry level role that includes communication duties plus organisational and administrative support for the Corporate Affairs team. Playing the leading support role for the team will allow you and the team to drive forward communication initiatives that safeguard and enhance the reputation of Fletcher Building, plus you’ll gain invaluable experience in internal and external communication, event development, media relations, social media and channel management.
Attitude is what counts here - we know you’ll be joining us with limited experience, and we are 100% cool with that What we are looking for is someone who is prepared to learn, has a hunger to grow and develop and understands that involves perfecting the grunt work alongside inquisitively grasping opportunities to work on things only a large complex corporate can provide.
You’ll work under the guidance of some seriously experienced Corporate Affairs professionals who are happy to pass on their knowledge and you’ll also be exposed to amazing NZ business minds, ensuring you receive the kind of on-the-job training and guidance you need to become a first-class corporate affairs specialist.
**About you**
- You’ll be a recent Comms graduate who is a curious and energetic self-starter. You’ll be creative, and a natural storyteller. You’ll have the fortitude to think on your feet and quickly pivot direction as priorities change.
You will be able to navigate your way through ambiguity and have no qualms about asking for help or seeking clarification to get the job done right.
Most importantly you will understand that great comms is about building strong and mutually beneficial relationships with all your stakeholders. You must love working with people and prefer inter-personal communication rather than sitting behind a screen.
**What we offer**
- We offer, a high-energy environment where you can enjoy collaborating and adding your creative ideas to the mix. You will be joining a driven and highly capable team of genuine people who love what they do. We offer free car-parking, a flexible hybrid working model including days in the office and days at home, a staff discount card at PlaceMakers and Mico Plumbing, an opportunity to join our company share scheme, and access to our Employee Education Fund.
