**About the role**
As the Kaitautoko (Cook) at Raroera Te Puāwai Puna Reo (ELC), you will play a vital role in ensuring that our Tamariki receive nutritious, well-balanced meals that support their growth and development. You will be responsible for planning and preparing morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, following food safety regulations, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.
At times, you may be required to provide additional support on the floor to maintain staff-to-child ratios and ensure a safe and engaging learning environment.
**About you**
You’ll bring to this important role:
- A Certificate in Food & Beverage Service (Level 3) or a related field.
- A Food Safety Certificate and jnowledge of the Food Act 2014 and National Programme 2.
- A sound understanding of nutritional needs for Tamariki ages 3 months to 5 years old.
- The ability to cook 30-50 child portion meals and snacks daily.
- Good physical mobility and the ability to lift, bend and stand for long periods of time.
- A full NZ Drivers’ license.
- As this position is classed as a Core Worker, you will need to pass a safety check under the Children’s Act 2014.
A sound understanding of te reo Māori phrases, mihi and greetings, and Māori values, culture, and tikanga, would be advantageous. As this role is classified as a Core Worker under the Childrens’ Act 2014, you will need to undergo police vetting and pass a safety check.
