An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated and innovative senior Registered Nurse for the role of Charge Nurse, Ward 78, General Surgery.
Ward 78 is dedicated to providing surgical nursing care for General Surgery patients receiving planned and acute care, including the trauma, hepatobiliary, upper gastro-intestinal and gastroenterological patient cohorts.
As the Charge Nurse, you will responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of clinical nursing care to patients and their whanau. On a daily basis, you will be able to demonstrate your clinical and professional leadership while leading and supporting the nursing team in all aspects of nursing care management within the ward. This is a key senior nursing role and you will be working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class health care.
This is a fulltime position working 40 hrs/week, Monday to Friday, based at Te Toka Tumai Auckland

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
You will ideally be an experienced senior Registered Nurse with leadership experience in a tertiary hospital preferably within surgical services. You will have excellent communication skills and will be a driver of quality improvement initiatives with the focus on patient safety and excellence in delivery of care.
- Advanced clinical practice knowledge - at least 3 years at a senior nursing level with demonstrated leadership experience at this level and have experience working in a fast paced setting
- Commitment to providing excellent care
- Strong accountability for resource and budget management
- Current NZ Nursing Council Registration and an annual practicing certificate
- A commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Demonstrated expertise in setting standards and managing practice to achieve these
- Ability to provide coaching and address performance issues
- Ideally, you will have completed or working towards a post-graduate qualification.
