About the role
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the Smartly product development team here at Datacom as a QA Automation Test Lead.
Your expertise in test automation will be critical to the success of our growing team. You will be a key player in driving and implementing great automation solutions. You will contribute to a top-performing team by actively optimising our framework and automation strategy, managing our team of automation engineers, and driving best practices.
In addition to bringing your automation expertise, you will bring a history of great testing practice and truly understand good QA strategy.
This role can be worked from any Datacom office in NZ.

Your responsibilities - Lead a team of automation testers, setting standards and ensuring best practices for test automation are followed and upheld, peer reviewing team members work.
- Guide and mentor team members to ensure that all test automation is delivered to an exceptional level of quality.
- Work with product teams to plan and prioritise automation requirements, lead the delivery of work in the automation space.
- Continuous improvement and optimisation of the automation framework and workflow, keeping solutions up to date with latest technologies
- Ensure test environments are an accurate representation of the client environment. Use test data and environments in strict accordance with all internal and customer security and auditing standards.
- Prepare and maintain documentation on system automation functionality, standards and approaches
- Work with functional QA leads and architects to design effective automated test plans and testing strategies
- Management of automated test execution and issue triage, manage and maintain deployment pipelines
- Generate and deliver high value test reporting documentation to provide the business with quality metrics
- Lead scrum test teams by example - encourage collaboration, contribution and commitment to the teams shared goals

What you'll bring
- Experience leading a team of other automation testers and implementing excellent test automation strategies
- 5+ years experience creating and maintaining automated test scripts using C# (essential) and Java (desired) programming languages
- Proven experience with create test suites with Open Source and/or commercial tools and frameworks like Selenium, JUnit
- Advanced understanding of good software development practices and current methodologies and tools such as OOP, BDD/Gherkin
- Proven experience designing, building and maintaining medium to large scale automation test frameworks
- Intermediate or above SQL knowledge with experience using SQL for test data automation.
- Proven experience with workflow / test management tools e.g. Jira, Azure DevOps
- Proven knowledge across unit, functional, system, integration, and end-to-end testing
- Experience in CI/CD, source control systems, and configuration management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting ideas and strategies
