Trainee Pharmacy Technician

We - re looking for a Trainee Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This is an exciting and varied opportunity working within an experienced team who are all passionate about the health and wellbeing of the Canterbury community.

The role is a two-year fixed term position during which time you will be expected to complete the New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Introduction to Pharmacy Practice (Level 3) and (Pharmacy Technician - Core (level 4) through the Open Polytechnic. The training will be supported by a pharmacist preceptor and encompasses rotations throughout clinical areas across the Te Whatu Ora hospital sites in Christchurch: Christchurch Hospital, Burwood Hospital and Hillmorton Hospital.

Te Whatu Ora, Waitaha prides itself on supporting and developing our Pharmacy Technicians. This position has plenty of variety and challenging opportunities and innovation is encouraged by peers, senior staff and management. The department provides regular continuing education and numerous other training opportunities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic applicant with a good work ethic, enjoys working as part of a team, has excellent interpersonal skills and a strong desire to learn. Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Key tasks include
- Dispensing inpatient and outpatient medication including clinical trials, compassionate supplies, home IV therapy, chemotherapy and sterile products
- Repacking

- Must meet the entry requirements for the New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Introduction to Pharmacy Practice (Level3) and (Pharmacy Technician - Core (level 4) training courses.
- Basic computer literacy
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Hospital pharmacy experience preferred but not mandatory
