Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

We're looking for a Portfolio Delivery Lead to join our Business Improvement team in our Information Services group. This is a permanent role based in our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office.

**Mo te turanga | About the role**

This is a pivotal strategic role responsible for overseeing the Commission's Information Services (IS) project portfolio. As the Portfolio Delivery Lead, you'll ensure robust governance, manage delivery risks, and provide expert advice to support the successful delivery of strategic initiatives.

Reporting to the Business Improvement Manager, you'll act as the practice lead for IS projects, supporting project managers and delivery leads across the Commission. You'll champion best practice in project management, enhance reporting quality, and build strong relationships to ensure alignment with organisational priorities.

**He korero mou | About you**

You're a strategic and experienced project leader with a strong background in managing complex portfolios and delivering results in dynamic environments. You bring a collaborative mindset, a passion for continuous improvement, and a commitment to building capability across teams.

You're also someone who thrives in ambiguity. As our project management practice continues to evolve, you'll be comfortable navigating uncertainty, defining problems clearly, and influencing decision-makers to move initiatives forward. You'll bring a confident and persuasive communication style, particularly when engaging with senior leaders, and be adept at balancing competing demands and personalities to drive alignment and clarity.

You will also bring:

- Proven experience leading and managing complex projects and portfolios within a structured framework
- Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to provide expert advice and thought leadership across a diverse stakeholder group
- Experience in coaching and mentoring project teams to build internal capability
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills
- A relevant tertiary qualification and Project Management Professional certification (or equivalent experience)
