**The role**

We are seeking highly experienced Data Engineers of various levels (Senior, Lead and Principal) on a contractual basis here at ClearPoint, to get involved in the transformation of a modern data platform with our Client.

In this role, you will design and implement cutting-edge systems, mentor technical teams, and ensure best practices in data architecture and transformation. You will collaborate with stakeholders to build scalable, distributed solutions that integrate with modern data tools and frameworks.

We are ideally looking at individuals with immediate availability, and based in Auckland.

**The experience we’re looking for**_(this will vary depending on the seniority)_**
- At least 5-7+ years in data architecture / engineering and platform development
- Deep expertise with modern data tools, including CDC technologies and Apache Iceberg
- Hands-on experience with distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Flink
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, Go, or Java (JVM)
- Experience designing and managing scalable, distributed data platforms
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and modern data systems (non-relational approaches considered)
- Familiarity with machine learning or AI data workflows is a strong advantage

**What you’ll be doing**_(this will vary depending on the seniority)_**
- Lead the design and architecture for data platform transformation projects
- Develop and implement scalable solutions using modern tools like Python, Flink, Scala, Go, and Java (JVM)
- Integrate cutting-edge technologies such as Change Data Capture (CDC) tools, Apache Iceberg, Apache Druid, and ClickHouse
- Construct proofs of concept (POCs) to validate proposed architectures
- Mentor technical leads and developers, fostering best practices in data transformation
- Guide teams through data migrations and platform development cycles

We have a BYOD policy at ClearPoint to allow you to utilise whatever tech takes your fancy. For our permanent staff, we provide a yearly BYOD allowance and phone allowance, so you can choose the tech that best suits your needs.

All our permanent staff get an annual training and professional development budget for books, courses and conferences. You’ll also get access to resources from a range of our partners such as AWS, Microsoft, Okta, Snowflake and Salesforce, including training platforms, partner portals, online courses and real-life practice.
