Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our growing team in Auckland, New Zealand. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our data infrastructure to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and provide efficient solutions
- Implement and optimise data models for improved performance and scalability
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across all data systems
- Develop and maintain documentation for data processes and architectures
- Continuously improve data infrastructure to meet evolving business needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering

Qualifications

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 3 years' experience in data engineering or a similar role
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Bash) and ETL tools
- Expertise in designing and implementing data warehousing solutions
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, SQL Server)
- Strong understanding of data modelling, database design, and data governance principles
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Knowledge of data security best practices and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with data visualisation tools and machine learning concepts
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience with technologies such as dbt, Teradata, Wherescape, Kafka, and microservices is advantageous
