What we are looking for:
Our New Zealand Energy team is looking for a Principal Transmission & Distribution / Power Systems Engineers to be a part of key Energy projects that will shape the communities in which we live. This role will see you working on projects of significant importance to Australia and New Zealand’s energy system allowing you to have the opportunity to build a dynamic career.

This role will see you:
Assist, establish and shape the development and success of Australia and New Zealand’s transmission, distribution and power systems engineering business by contributing to the strategy, implementation of plans and build out of key activities.

Undertake business development duties through identifying and targeting emerging clients and creating winning proposals to seed new business opportunities.

Grow our business with respect to power systems engineering services, ultimately becoming a ‘trusted advisor’ to our existing and future client base.

Refine the power systems engineering offering and services.

Conducting benchmarking and advising clients on strategy, targets, priorities, pathways, road mapping and solutions associated with power systems engineering.

Monitoring and communicating trends in power systems engineering across the business.

Ensure that the production of deliverables are to the agreed timelines and within budget

Monitor and track success, including identifying systems and process improvements, and building internal alignment, engagement and support for the power systems engineering in APNA and acting as the local interface with the Renewable Energy and Advisory practices.
Working as a team, you will be contributing to the creation of power systems, engineering, marketing and communication initiatives, campaigns and products, including thought leadership and events. You also be sharing knowledge, learnings and success, and leveraging experience across the Group.
In addition to the above you will also be interfacing power systems engineering services with broader outcomes such as digital innovation, automation, risk mitigations and whole life cost.

10-15 years’ experience working in T&D / power systems engineering roles

Experience in client engagement with an ability to establish strong client relationships

An attitude and desire to help clients with their power system’s needs (eg for Australia - GPS, R0, R1 and R2, New Zealand Asset Capability and network planning or TX and DX networks alike) and progress towards approvals to connect new assets in their relevant jurisdictions (NEM and WEM) and studies that completely address issues such as stability, steady-state limits and power quality compliances as per the network’s requirements and AEMO/Transpower’s expectations

Process development and/or research experience in improving power systems engineering processes to be competitive in the market and offering good value to clients

Excellent communication skills and able to relate to others at all levels with strong planning and management skills

Bring a range of report writing, and visual and verbal presentation techniques

Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners and sub-contractors

Proficient with of key methodologies associated with power systems engineering and software packages such as PSSE, DIgSILENT Powerfactory, PSCAD and other packages like ETAP being advantageous
