**Who we are: Ko Te Taurapa Tūhono tēnei**

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), Te Taurapa Tūhono, is Aotearoa's international business development agency, we help companies grow bigger, better, faster, for the good of Aotearoa.

In this permanent role, you will use your commercial expertise to engage deeply with Māori stakeholders to develop and accelerate their companies, support large-scale greenfield investment opportunities (that are typically sponsored by iwi organisations and Māori land trusts), and assist Māori as investors to create a step-change in New Zealand’s economy.

This will involve originating opportunities and building the investment capability of Māori stakeholders to accelerate their companies and projects to an investment ready state with the aim of attracting domestic capital or Foreign Direct Investment. You’ll provide in-depth capital and financial knowledge and advice across various opportunities, all of which done through a uniquely Māori lens.

This role will connect you across the domestic and global capital raising ecosystem and offers the potential to develop wider career prospects either within Aotearoa or offshore. There is a heap of exciting things to get amongst.

**In terms of te ao Māori, this means driving**:

- Hinonga - Māori better-utilising their assets to generate income and meaningful employment in Aotearoa
- Mātauranga - informed Māori investors growing diversified portfolios
- Rangapū - Māori partnering for investment success
- Whakaata - Awesome Māori investment opportunities showcased to the world

**What you’ll be doing: Te whakamahere**

We are looking for a highly capable, flexible and motivated person to originate and prepare Māori investment propositions. You will be working across the entire life cycle of investment projects, from developing investment propositions alongside Māori organisations (Iwi commercial entities; significant Māori Incorporations and Lands Trusts; Māori commercial partnerships; Māori companies etc) at the concept stage, shaping the proposition for market, then connecting with the right investors.

Your role will also involve showing investment opportunities to your Māori investor network. This means that you will have both the commercial capability to vet these opportunities, as well as a deep understanding of the preferences and mandate of your Māori investor network.

You will have sound technical understanding and advice you will provide, ranging from high level value proposition and market evaluation through to financial analysis, business models, operational mechanics and governance for specific opportunities; all to create high-quality investment propositions and attract investors.

Relationships you will build will be as diverse as the projects, with a wide range of stakeholders including Founders, Directors and Management of Māori commercial entities; governors of Iwi, Māori Incorporations and Land Trusts; local and international investor groups; Professional intermediaries (e.g., Investment Banks, Advisory Firms, Commercial Banks); and relevant government agencies.

This role also involves being the interface between Iwi and NZTE, and so, a sound understanding of tikanga Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and a basic understanding of te reo Māori will equip the applicant to thrive in this role.
