The Family and Community Health Policy group works on a range of cross-cutting health and social issues including disability, women's health, child and youth wellbeing, primary and community care, ambulance services, homelessness, healthy ageing, and rainbow health.
Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
The Manager, Health of Disabled People Policy will lead and support a policy team that focuses on ensuring that the health system achieves equitable outcomes for disabled people. This is a significant leadership role within Manatū Hauora and requires navigating relationships across the Ministry and the wider health system, as well as across government and with the disability community.
In this role you will lead a team that focuses on policy related to the health of disabled people, including leading the development of the Health of Disabled People Strategy. You'll work across the health system to identify opportunities to improve health outcomes for disabled people, as well supporting cross-government commitments. You'll lead the work programme of your team to ensure that the work they do has maximum impact. You will support your team on their development journeys, ensuring that they have opportunities to do work that's challenging, meaningful and helps them to grow as policy professionals.
Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in relevant field to public policy and significant experience leading policy advice
- Proven successful experience in collaborating and brokering with challenging stakeholders
- Thorough understanding of public policy issues and have demonstrated success in leading complex policy pieces
- You'll know what robust policy advice looks like and you'll support your team to deliver to a high standard on every piece of work
- Solid understanding of the machinery of government and know how to collaborate to get things done.
- Experience working with Māori on policy, service design, engagement or governance is highly desirable and working with the diversity of the disability community is highly valued.
