Lifeguards are at the heart of our facilities, supporting the community to reach their health and wellbeing goals. We're more than just safety-focused - we build strong connections with our pool users and are always ready to respond in an emergency. Now's your chance to join our passionate aquatic team We'll provide full training to help you become a qualified NZ Pool Lifeguard (which includes NCEA credits). Don't have your comprehensive first aid certificate? We've got that covered too.

**Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre**:

Nau mai, tauti mai ki te whare o Parakiore; The name Parakiore has been gifted by Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga and fits perfectly as the name of the Christchurch City Council's newest facility, the Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre. Parakiore was a Ngāi Tūāhuriri hero renowned for his resilience, determination and agility.

**Important parts of the process**:

- If successful after the assessment centre interview, you will be contacted and required to undertake 2 full days of Lifeguard Training with a follow-up assessment to gain your Pool Lifeguard Qualification. The cost of these courses is covered by Christchurch City Council. If you already hold a PLPC you will not need to attend the Lifeguard assessment day.
- The course will run on the 12th and 13th of August, with a follow-up assessment date to be confirmed. Attending this training is a non-negotiable requirement for the role, ensuring you're well-prepared and confident when the facility opens. As part of this process, you may be rostered across different locations and outside of the originally advertised shift times.
