- Support a growing, high-performing team with real purpose and momentum
- Support a party driving real change with bold, consistent principles

**The team**

The ACT Caucus Support Centre supports ACT’s parliamentary team by delivering timely, accurate, and high-quality political and operational support. Funded through Parliamentary Service, our workplace values performance and integrity, and we're committed to building a team culture that’s resilient, energised, and driven by purpose.

We’re a small, close-knit group working in a fast-moving political environment. Our people are passionate about making an impact and we’re looking for a strong people leader to help us do that sustainably.

**About the role**

As Chief People Officer, you’ll be the go-to person for ensuring our people thrive. You’ll oversee performance development, hiring, wellbeing, and staff engagement—making sure everyone in the office is supported, motivated, and aligned with our goals.

You’ll work closely with the Chief of Staff and leadership team, as well as Parliamentary Service HR specialists, to create a high-performance workplace where people feel trusted, supported, and set up for success.

**Key responsibilities**
- Leading performance reviews and supporting staff development planning
- Managing hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Supporting workplace culture, wellbeing, and morale across the office
- Identifying and developing staff talent and building leadership capability
- Managing workforce planning, capacity, and workload in partnership with team leads
- Supporting communication and coordination across internal teams
- Resolving issues early and constructively, with support from Parliamentary Service
- Promoting learning, development, and continuous improvement across the organisation

**What you will bring to the role**

We’re looking for a confident people leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You’ll bring:

- Proven leadership experience in people and operations—especially in politics, startups, government, or mission-driven organisations
- Strong interpersonal skills with a calm, confident communication style
- A track record of supporting high-performing teams through growth and change
- The ability to manage complexity and find practical solutions to people and culture challenges
- Strong organisational, planning, and process improvement skills
- Experience in internal communication and building cross-team connections
- Good judgement and sensitivity when handling HR and compliance matters
- A genuine passion for building a healthy, supportive, and lasting workplace culture
- Resilience, flexibility, and the ability to lead under pressure or in ambiguity

**What's in it for you?**

We offer a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, access to an on-site gym and pool, learning and development opportunities and flexible working arrangements. Our ever-changing environment allows us to be part of the action at Parliament including attending question time, select committees and other key events. We offer a thorough induction, on-going development, and excellent working conditions.

**Please note**: This is a full-time role. Appointments will be made according to skills and experience.
