**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

The Regional Manager Māori Partnerships provides strong and influential leadership and is responsible for the creation, development and maintenance of critical relationships with iwi Māori. This role also provides support and strategic advice on Māori Partnerships to leadership and frontline teams across Ara Poutama. The Regional Manager and team are the first point of call for all staff regarding best practice in terms of making meaningful contact with iwi and Māori provider groups.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**

To be effective in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within Te Ao Māori and Te Ao Hurihuri and display core skills (Te Reo, Tikanga, and an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and Hōkai Rangi).
- Experience in a strategic leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to act in a collaborative manner and contribute in an effective and supportive manner at a senior level across and within an organisation.
- Awareness of justice sector trends and issues, the cultural, political and social environment of Ara Poutama and the roles and responsibilities of partner agencies (governmental and non-governmental) in the justice and social sectors.
- A commitment to our strategy Hōkai Rangi and shares in the vision of Ara Poutama of assisting all men and women in our care to achieve well-being “kotahi anō te kaupapa, ko te oranga o te iwi.
- Adept at influencing and encouraging others to gain commitment and support for views, actions and recommendations, and to effectively manage the resolution of conflicts.
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills for building and strengthening a broad range of key relationships including a wide network of professional and community contacts.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including accepting responsibility for problem solving and developing workable solutions.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate complex issues to a wide range of stakeholders and audiences.
- Strong people management and team leadership skills including obligations and requirements in relation to Health and Safety, performance development, cultural responsiveness and EEO.
